The Mets invaded Globe Life Field last night and throttled the World Champs. The opener against the Rangers was about as perfect of a ballgame as a team could have. Before the game, a couple of old friends, Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer, sat down with the New York scribes to discuss life after the Mets. The sight of Scherzer can’t help but get you thinking about last summer’s trade and when the Mets can “cash in” on their return for the future Hall-of-Famer.
Grimace might have ignited the recent run of good fortune (queue the laugh track), but regardless of the reason, the Mets are just a few wins away from the magical .500 mark. Three weeks ago, this was a pipe dream after the Dodgers swept them at Citi Field to put 11 games of distance to that modest goal. Now, everything is ice cream and cherries. Can the good times last?
