Our prior two installments took a deep dive into the state of the current and future Mets pitching staff and infield. So, let’s see how the OUTFIELD and DH shape up for 2025…

Unlike the infield, where three positions are a lock, the outfield and DH have only one lock—Brandon Nimmo in LF. The other two spots and DH are wide open right now, with Tyrone Taylor again reprising his fourth outfielder role, assuming he fully recovers from two recent surgeries. Taylor provides plus defense at all three positions, 90 percentile speed, and some prowess at the dish, with a .700 OPS in 2024. As fourth outfielders go, Taylor fits the bill.

At this moment, analyzing the Mets outfield boils down to two scenarios: “With Soto”—or— “Without Soto.”
